TechBBQ
We’ve built for TechBBQ twice now, in 2024 and 2026. Both times we used our mellow joint system, and both times the goal was the same, give people a place to step out of the crowd and actually talk to each other.
We had the incredible opportunity to immerse ourselves in the dynamic energy of the event, listening to inspiring speakers and connecting with atttendees.
2024
In 2024, we built a big outdoor area filled with benches, tables and our pod. We made a whole collection of different structures from Euro pallets and the mellow joint. It’s the same system and the same type of parts, just put together in different ways, which is how one space could do so many things at once. At the time, it was the largest outdoor area we’d ever built.
We laid it out so people could move through easily and choose what suited them, a bench to sit on, a table to work at, or a quiet corner away from the busy indoor venue. And people used it in all of those ways. Some worked, some held meetings, some hung out with friends and new contacts, and some just wanted a break.
2026
In 2026, we collaborated with DanBAN and designed and built the founders lounge at TechBBQ. It was a space made for founders, investors and other people at the event to meet and network. Where the 2024 area was open to everyone and did many things, this one had one clear job, to make it easy for the right people to start a conversation.
We designed the lounge around that a comfortable, welcoming spot where people could sit down, talk and connect without the pressure of a busy conference floor.
What we took away
The two projects show how far the same reused parts can go. In 2024 it was a big open area, and in 2026 it was a more focused space for networking, and both came from the same system. Thanks to the TechBBQ team for the collaboration. We’d love to build more with you.
